Microsoft is rolling out Gaming Copilot, its AI-powered assistant for games, to the Xbox Game Bar on Windows 11 worldwide, with the exception of mainland China. The feature, which was previously available in limited tests, arrives as an integrated widget that provides in-game tips, voice interaction and screenshot-based guidance.

Company officials say the assistant will also arrive in the Xbox mobile app for iOS and Android next month, expanding access beyond desktop users.

How Gaming Copilot works

Gaming Copilot appears as an interactive widget inside the Xbox Game Bar. Players can summon the assistant without leaving their game to receive real-time strategic suggestions and personalized recommendations.

The assistant supports voice commands so users do not need to pause gameplay to interact with it. Players can also send screenshots to the Copilot to get context-specific advice—such as strategies to defeat a particular boss or tips on balancing a team composition.

Main features

Microsoft lists several core capabilities of Gaming Copilot:

  • Personalized game recommendations;
  • Access to recent Xbox achievements;
  • Real-time strategic suggestions;
  • Voice interaction to avoid interrupting play.

Microsoft has demonstrated the Copilot in titles like Overwatch 2, where the assistant suggested ideal heroes to help balance the team.

Roadmap and long-term goals

Microsoft plans to optimize Gaming Copilot for portable devices such as the Xbox Ally and intends to bring the assistant to Xbox consoles in the future. Over the long term, the company aims to evolve Copilot into an AI-based coach that can deliver advanced tips and performance analysis to help players improve.
