God of War Laufey pre-orders start Sept. 29

Santa Monica Studio announced that pre-orders for God of War Laufey begin on Sept. 29. The game is scheduled for release on Feb. 16, 2027, exclusively for PlayStation 5 and puts Faye — also known as Laufey — at the center of its story.

Pre-order bonuses and editions

Anyone who pre-orders any edition of God of War Laufey will receive three bonus items unlocked as they progress through the story: the Last Wish Armor Set, the Golden Leaves appearance for the Phranque, and an in-game resource pack.

The Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Shadow Alchemy Armor Set, Shadow Alchemy Blade, Shadow Alchemy Bow Plates, and the Shadow Alchemy Catalyst. That edition also includes additional in-game resources, a digital mini artbook, and the official digital soundtrack.

Faye’s primary weapon: the Serpent Bow

Alongside pre-order details, Santa Monica Studio revealed combat mechanics for playing as Faye. Her main ranged weapon will be the Serpent Bow, described as an enchanted bow that can change form and switch between long-range attacks and close-range combinations.

The bow supports two primary aiming modes tied to trigger input. Fully squeezing the trigger activates Precision Mode, which lets players target specific enemy body parts to impair movement or attack capabilities. In Precision Mode the player can also charge up to five arrows and fire them in sequence.

Partially squeezing the trigger engages Free Aim Mode, designed for quick shots and used to juggle enemies and extend combos while the player swaps weapons and abilities. The Serpent Bow will also support multiple arrow types, including fast-shot, explosive, and multi-target variants.

Equipment customization affects combat

Customization plays a direct role in gameplay. The Serpent Plates can be equipped on the bow to alter its appearance and gameplay properties. Faye will have multiple armor options, attributes, and perks, and the game features three categories of customizable equipment.

The Blade changes the character’s sword, the Plates are applied to the Serpent Bow, and Catalysts are artifacts tied to the All-Time magic with varying effects.
