Accessory maker Genki revealed a mockup of what it describes as the Nintendo Switch 2 at CES 2025, saying the model is based on the console’s actual hardware. Nintendo has not officially announced a successor to the original Switch.
Mockup shows larger screen and magnetic Joy‑Con design
The device Genki displayed includes detachable Joy‑Con controllers that attach magnetically and a significantly larger screen than the 2017 Switch model. The company also highlighted an optical sensor for the new Joy‑Con controllers, a feature that previously surfaced in leaked images.
Video comparisons and render shared online
A French site published a video comparing Genki’s mockup to the original Switch, and Genki posted a rendered animation of the mockup on a TV at its CES booth. The render has been shared on Reddit and other social platforms.

Claims align with Nintendo executive’s earlier timeline
In May 2024, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa posted on X that a formal announcement with more details about a Nintendo Switch 2 would arrive “within this fiscal year,” meaning Nintendo has until March 2025 to formalize a launch. Genki said the Switch 2 could be released in April 2025, a date that aligns with Furukawa’s timeline but has not been confirmed by Nintendo.
Takeaway: treat the mockup cautiously
While Genki’s mockup resembles previous leaks and incorporates features that have circulated online, Nintendo has not verified details about a new Switch generation. As a result, models and speculation should be viewed with caution until Nintendo issues an official announcement.
