Nintendo unveiled a new five-minute trailer on Wednesday, June 14, for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic. The company confirmed the game will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, and showcased the title’s updated visuals, expanded dialogue and gameplay enhancements.
Voice acting, orchestral score and expanded scenes
The remake features fully voiced cinematic scenes and extended dialogue across the adventure. Nintendo also revealed an orchestral arrangement of the game’s soundtrack, aiming to refresh the audio experience while preserving the original story beats.
Ocarina interaction through Switch 2 microphone

A key gameplay change is a mechanic that uses the Nintendo Switch 2 microphone to interact with Link’s ocarina. According to Nintendo, players will be able to hum or sing melodies learned in the game or play them on real instruments, and the console’s microphone will recognize those sounds and cause the in-game ocarina to respond.
The feature elevates the ocarina’s role from the original, where it already manipulated time and unlocked areas of Hyrule, by allowing a more direct, audio-based input method.
New in-game challenges and replay encounters
The remake adds a location called the Hall of Fallen Heroes, a space that displays statues of monsters defeated during the journey. In that area, players can learn more about foes and re-engage them in rematch battles.
Amiibo support and mobile integration
Nintendo confirmed support for ZELDA NOTES, a companion service available through the Nintendo Switch mobile app for compatible devices, which will offer supplementary features to assist exploration.
The company also announced two new The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time amiibo scheduled for 2027. These figures will unlock special masks in-game, while existing Zelda series amiibo will continue to provide additional rewards.
Release timing and anniversary context
The remake is part of the 40th anniversary celebration of The Legend of Zelda franchise, which began in 1986. The updated Ocarina of Time will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
