Forza Horizon 6 has launched, transporting the Playground Games franchise to a long-requested location: Japan. Published by Xbox Game Studios, the new entry preserves the series’ open-world racing structure while centering its environments and visuals on Japanese automotive culture.
Japan forms the core of the new map
The game’s map blends neon-lit urban districts, coastal highways, industrial zones and narrow mountain roads inspired by famous drift routes. That mix is designed to support high-speed runs as well as technical driving, reflecting Japan’s strong connection to tuning and street-racing culture.
Playground Games shaped the world to be an active part of gameplay, encouraging free exploration and a range of driving styles across diverse biomes.

More than 550 licensed cars included
Microsoft states that Forza Horizon 6 features over 550 licensed vehicles. The roster spans supercars, classic models, rally cars and vehicles tied to the Japanese scene, highlighting manufacturers associated with the country’s automotive culture.
Alongside the broad selection, cars maintain advanced cosmetic customization and performance tuning options, allowing players to tailor vehicles to different challenges and playstyles.
Positioned among 2026’s major racing releases
With this release, Xbox reinforces Forza Horizon as one of its flagship franchises. Forza Horizon 6 combines the series’ trademark open-world freedom with a distinct visual identity—higher-contrast lighting, variable weather and urban design elements drawn from contemporary Japan—to refresh the player experience.
For fans of the series and followers of Japanese car culture, the title stands out as one of the most significant racing releases of 2026.
