Xbox confirmed it will participate in Gamescom 2021 with a virtual presentation scheduled for August 24 at 14:00 Brasília time. The announcement says the stream will offer updates on upcoming releases and Game Pass content rather than promise major surprises.
What Xbox plans to show
In its statement, Xbox said the presentation will include “detailed updates on some announced Xbox Game Studios titles, plus third‑party news, including some of the incredible games coming to the console during the holiday season.” The company also promised information on releases arriving soon to its subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, and other items.
Marketing director Aaron Greenberg later clarified on Twitter that the stream’s focus is “game updates coming this year” and that attendees should not expect “big surprises” from the event.
Titles likely to be referenced
The announcement suggests Xbox may highlight releases already announced for late 2021, such as Age of Empires IV (October 28), Forza Horizon 5 (November 9) and Halo Infinite, which currently has no specific date but is expected by the end of the year. Other Xbox Studio projects named in the message—Avowed, Fable and Everwild—remain without release dates but could receive updates.
Xbox Game Pass and cloud gaming developments
Among other possible topics, Xbox could address expansion of Game Pass to smart TVs. A recent Microsoft update to the cloud gaming app on Android indicates the company may be preparing for broader platform support, though neither Microsoft nor Xbox has officially confirmed a smart TV launch.
Hardware news and special edition controller
Xbox recently announced a Series X|S wireless controller in a special Aqua Shift edition. Described as a mystical blue tone inspired by the fantasy of gaming, the Xbox Wireless Controller – Aqua Shift Special Edition is already available for pre-order on Microsoft’s website.
How to watch the Xbox stream
Xbox said the Gamescom presentation will be streamed on its official channels, including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Gaming and Twitter. The company plans to provide support in 30 languages, plus English audio description and American Sign Language to improve accessibility.
Gamescom schedule and other participants
The broader Gamescom program includes Gamescom: Opening Night Live from August 25 through August 27. Other companies confirmed to take part in the event include Sega, Electronic Arts and Activision.
