FIFA 22, due October 1, will bring a significant overhaul to Career Mode on next-generation platforms, the developer announced. Players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia will be able to build and manage entirely custom clubs with new creation and management tools.
The redesigned Career Mode enables users to create their own team complete with name, kits, crest, stadium and squad. Newly formed clubs can be placed into any league, from England’s fourth tier up to the Premier League, allowing managers to launch a club at lower levels or immediately compete at the top.
Board philosophy and club identity controls
Managers will be able to define the board’s philosophy, choosing priorities such as focusing on domestic competition success over continental tournaments or emphasizing youth development instead of financial profit. These strategic settings are intended to shape club decisions and season objectives.
Customization extends to match and fan presentation: users can assign goal music and crowd chants, and alter kits, the club badge and stadium name before each new season begins.
New player career objectives
Career paths for individual players also receive updates. The mode includes fresh starting objectives that differ from those used in past story-driven features like The Journey (seen in FIFA 17–19). Examples of new goals include earning a high match rating, completing a target number of shots on goal or achieving a specified successful dribble percentage.
Availability and platforms
These Career Mode upgrades are exclusive to the next-gen versions of FIFA 22 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia. The game itself launches on October 1.
