The Xbox Series X will go on sale in the United States on November 10 with a retail price of $499, the company confirmed, and preorders are scheduled to begin on September 22.
Core hardware and performance
Microsoft positions the Series X as the most powerful console in its new generation. The system is built around a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU with eight cores and a custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU delivering 12 teraflops of compute performance.
The GPU comprises 52 compute units running at 1.825 gigahertz, a configuration designed to drive higher frame rates, improved graphical fidelity and hardware-accelerated ray tracing support compared with previous console generations.
Process node, memory and storage
The console uses a 7-nanometer process and ships with 16 GB of RAM. Storage is provided by a custom 1 TB solid-state drive (SSD), which Microsoft says will enable faster load times and improved streaming of game assets.
