Xbox Cloud Gaming now runs on Meta Quest headsets

Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available on Meta’s virtual reality headsets, enabling players with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription to stream and play Xbox titles in 3D on Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro.

What the integration delivers

The integration brings Microsoft’s cloud-streaming Xbox library to Meta’s VR devices. Users who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — the plan that provides access to Xbox games via cloud streaming — can run those games through Meta headsets and experience them in a three-dimensional virtual environment.

How to connect your Xbox experience to a Meta headset

  • Connection is handled through a beta app available on the Meta Quest Store, using Bluetooth to pair the headset with the gaming source;
  • Once a compatible device is paired, users can launch a game and begin playing through the headset;
  • The cloud service now supports Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro headsets;
  • Meta already supports connections for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch Pro, and says support for PlayStation 5 will arrive in the future.

Collaboration between Microsoft and Meta

According to The Verge, this rollout is part of a broader collaboration between Meta and Microsoft. Both companies are advancing 3D and virtual-reality capabilities across their products.

The partnership also includes plans for Microsoft Teams to receive 3D features compatible with Meta headsets as early as January.
