Microsoft has begun rolling out its first major suite of artificial intelligence tools for Xbox, starting with an animated AI chatbot designed to handle customer support queries without requiring a human agent.
The chatbot, tested previously with Xbox Insiders, is powered by AI models and offers a personalized way for players to resolve common issues through the console’s online support system.
In parallel, Microsoft is updating the Xbox dashboard with a natural-language search feature also driven by AI. The new search will let users find games and content using conversational queries — for example, “puzzle games for kids” — and will handle typos and abbreviations more effectively.

Plans to expand AI across games and hardware
Microsoft has been exploring AI integration in games through partnerships such as the collaboration with Inworld AI, which focuses on tools for creating AI-driven characters and missions. These initiatives are still in early stages, but the company intends to broaden AI usage across its gaming efforts over time.
The company has also indicated the possibility of releasing a more advanced, AI-powered Xbox in the future, which it says could represent a significant technical leap for next-generation consoles.
Context within the industry
Microsoft’s moves come as competitors also adopt AI-enhanced features: Sony recently introduced the PS5 Pro with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-assisted upscaling technology. Microsoft frames its AI work as part of a broader strategy to deliver faster, more personalized user experiences across the Xbox ecosystem.
