Microsoft introduced the Support Virtual Agent, an AI-driven tool aimed at helping Xbox players troubleshoot console and game issues more efficiently. The feature is live for selected Xbox Insiders in the United States and operates in English through the support.xbox.com “Contact Us” section.
Who can access the Support Virtual Agent
The agent is available to users signed into a registered account in the Xbox Insider Program. Microsoft describes the release as a “preview experience,” meaning participation is limited and the company will collect user input to refine the tool.
How the virtual agent works
After clicking “Ask a question” while logged in to the support page, the Support Virtual Agent opens in a new browser window. Players can interact with it by typing or speaking questions, and it returns answers sourced from support.xbox.com.
If the AI cannot resolve an issue, users can request to speak with a live support agent, provided the request occurs during Xbox Support’s normal operating hours.

Feedback and customization
Microsoft is soliciting feedback to improve the agent. Users can rate each response with a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down,” or use the “Give feedback” button at the bottom of the page to submit more detailed input.
The service offers two visual agent options: an animated AI character or a colored Xbox orb, allowing users to choose the appearance they prefer.

Microsoft’s cautious approach to console AI
According to The Verge, Microsoft has been deliberate in integrating AI into its consoles. The company has indicated plans to expand AI tools for game content creation in the future, which could include incorporating AI-generated art on Xbox devices.
