Microsoft and B&O launch Beoplay Portal Wireless for Xbox

Bang & Olufsen and Microsoft unveiled the Beoplay Portal Wireless, a premium headset created exclusively for Xbox consoles. The headset is already on sale in the United States, with launches in other markets scheduled to begin April 29.

Price and availability

The Beoplay Portal Wireless carries a retail price of $499, roughly R$2,900 by direct conversion. That price is the same as an Xbox Series X console. U.S. customers can purchase now, while international sales will start on April 29.

Designed for Xbox Limited Series

This headset is the inaugural product in the “Designed for Xbox Limited Series,” a collection of accessories developed by Microsoft in partnership with various manufacturers. The series aims to offer Xbox-branded, partner-made peripherals.

Hardware and materials

Microsoft and Bang & Olufsen say the price reflects the headset’s technology and build. The Beoplay Portal Wireless supports multiple connection methods for Xbox consoles and uses premium materials for comfort and sound isolation.

Exterior and comfort features listed by the manufacturers include shearling ear cushions to improve sound isolation, calf leather, and an internal lining made from bamboo fiber fabric.

Outlook

The launch marks the first of several limited-series accessories expected from Microsoft this year. Additional products from the program are anticipated, though specific details and release dates were not provided alongside the Beoplay Portal Wireless announcement.
