Bang & Olufsen and Microsoft introduced the Beoplay Portal Wireless headset, a premium audio accessory created specifically for Xbox consoles. The headset is available now in the United States and will roll out worldwide beginning April 29, carrying a retail price of US$499—the same price as an Xbox Series X.
Designed for Xbox Limited Series and color options
The Beoplay Portal is the inaugural product in the “Designed for Xbox Limited Series,” a lineup of accessories built by Microsoft partners with an emphasis on quality, performance and safety. The headset ships in three finishes: Black Anthracite, Grey Mist and Navy Brass.

Connections and platform compatibility
The headphones connect wirelessly to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles. They also support PCs and mobile devices via Bluetooth and aptX Adaptive, allowing cross-platform use beyond Xbox hardware.
Controls, chat mixing and battery life
The Portal features a minimalist design with discreet onboard controls. Users can manage playback and separately adjust chat and game audio levels from the headset itself. According to Microsoft, the headset includes a virtual built-in microphone intended to deliver faithful voice performance without interfering with overall use.
Battery charging takes approximately three hours. Depending on usage, the headset’s battery lasts between 12 and 24 hours.

App support and sound customization
Bang & Olufsen provides companion apps for iOS and Android that let owners switch sound profiles, fine-tune active noise cancellation and modify other audio parameters.
Materials and design details
Designed by Jakob Wagner alongside Bang & Olufsen’s team, the Beoplay Portal blends Scandinavian styling with gaming-focused features. The headset uses lambskin ear cushions for improved sound isolation, calf leather and bamboo-fiber fabric on the inner surfaces, and a padded headband intended to reduce fatigue during extended sessions.
Availability and shipping schedule
Preorders are available in the U.S. and Canada now, but only the Black Anthracite version is offered immediately. The Grey Mist and Navy Brass variants will begin shipping in May.
