Nintendo has officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2, and the company has already confirmed a small selection of games that will be playable on the new hardware. The console features an 8-inch LCD display, 1440p resolution and magnetic Joy-Cons. Nintendo also confirmed that the Switch 2 will be backward compatible with the existing Switch library.
Confirmed lineup so far
Although the full launch catalog is still limited, Nintendo and developers have revealed several titles that will be available for the Switch 2. More announcements are expected before the console’s release later in 2025.
Yooka-Replaylee
Yooka-Replaylee is a remaster of Yooka-Laylee, the 3D platformer released in 2017 by creators who previously worked on Banjo-Kazooie. The remastered edition is listed among the early confirmed games for the Switch 2.
Bestiario
Bestiario is a turn-based RPG inspired by classic adventures and set in a fantastical version of Spain. Its gameplay evokes the style of PlayStation 1-era titles. The project’s Kickstarter page indicates that the game will launch on current-generation consoles, including both the original Switch and the Switch 2. A trailer has been released by the developers.
New Mario Kart
A new Mario Kart entry—title not yet revealed—appears in the Switch 2’s first trailer, showcasing an original track. According to Polygon, the trailer features a course called “Mario Bros,” set in a desert region, which fans had been anticipating.
My Time at Evershine
My Time at Evershine is a simulation RPG with adventure elements in which the player becomes governor of a new settlement on the fringes of the Free Cities. The role involves building infrastructure, recruiting settlers, leading the community and taming wild life to secure a keystone for the Alliance while opposing the powerful Empire Duvos.

Hardware and backward compatibility
Nintendo described key hardware details for the Switch 2: an 8-inch LCD screen larger than the previous model, 1440p resolution, and magnetic Joy-Cons. The company confirmed the platform will support backward compatibility, allowing players to use the existing Switch game library on the new console.

Nintendo has not provided an exact launch date, but confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2 will release in 2025.
