Death Stranding 2: On The Beach arrives June 24, continuing the story of Sam Bridges as he undertakes a new mission to prevent humanity’s extinction in a world still scarred by the previous catastrophe that opened a rift between the living and the dead.
Who returns and who joins Sam in Death Stranding 2
The sequel reunites familiar faces and introduces new figures who will shape Sam’s journey. Below are the principal characters announced so far, and the actors who portray them. Some were revealed via promotional posters from Kojima Productions and additional details were reported by The Times Of India.
Sam Bridges
Norman Reedus returns as Sam Bridges, the game’s protagonist. Sam is defined by his courage and determination and remains embroiled in existential conflict as he takes on the mission to save humanity.
Fragile
Léa Seydoux reprises the role of Fragile, a former character from the original game. Fragile is a young executive who inherited Fragile Express from her father and has been a major ally to Sam. Her exact role in the sequel has not been fully disclosed.
Higgs
Troy Baker lends his voice to Higgs, an eccentric antagonist expected to return and escalate the chaos that Sam must confront in Death Stranding 2.
Rainy
Shioli Kutsuna voices Rainy, described as a charismatic character who, according to available information, will be pregnant due to the Syndrome of Stillbirth.
Tomorrow
Elle Fanning voices Tomorrow, a mysterious young woman whom Sam encounters during his second expedition. Kojima Productions has promoted this character for some time, but further details about her background and role remain limited.
Tarman
Tarman is introduced as a member of the Drawbridge and captain of the ship; he is also noted to have worked as a doctor and geologist. The character will be portrayed—voice and likeness—by George Miller, the director known for Mad Max.
Dollman
Dollman is described as a “talking ventriloquist dummy” who accompanies Sam on a new expedition. As his name implies, he is a man trapped inside a puppet. The role will be played by Fatih Akin, director of The Edge of Heaven and In the Fade.
Heartman
Heartman, known from the first game for dying every 21 minutes, returns in the sequel. In Death Stranding 2 the character’s voice will be provided by Darren Jacobs, replacing Nicolas Winding Refn from the original installment.
