Microsoft employees testing Copilot for Gaming report that the AI assistant can guide players through games, recommend titles, access recent achievements, and even download and install games on Xbox via the mobile app.
What Copilot for Gaming can do now
In its initial build available to Microsoft staff, Copilot for Gaming is accessed through the Xbox mobile app. Testers say the assistant can:
- Show recent Xbox achievements tied to the user’s account.
- Suggest games based on play history.
- Provide tips on how to complete game objectives.
- Download and install games on the user’s Xbox console.
- Be driven by text input or voice commands.
- Offer multiple voice tones—described by testers as energetic, wise, calm, or heroic.
Microsoft emphasizes that players remain in control: users decide if and when to interact with Copilot, and the assistant should not interrupt gameplay unless permitted.
Vision features and future plans
Microsoft is also exploring the addition of Copilot Vision to the gaming experience. In other experiments, Copilot Vision demonstrated the ability to “see” what appears on a computer screen and act more autonomously.

Applied to games, that capability would let the assistant observe the onscreen action and offer context-aware guidance—effectively acting as a live coach that can give tips or function as an on-demand walkthrough.
Availability and rollout
According to early reporting, the initial Copilot for Gaming functionality will roll out first to Xbox Insiders. Microsoft has not provided a public release date.
At launch, access will be limited to the Xbox mobile app; the company says a future update could enable launching the assistant directly from the console.
