Microsoft began rolling out an update that enables Discord voice chat on Xbox consoles, allowing players to join Discord voice channels and group calls directly from Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
The feature, called Discord Voice, lets Xbox players “talk with anyone on Discord through voice channels or group calls directly from your console,” the company said in a post on Xbox Wire. Xbox said the integration aims to make it easier for people on different platforms to connect.

Availability and rollout
The update launched July 20 for participants in the Xbox Insider program and is available to a limited number of users initially. Microsoft expects to expand the feature to the broader Xbox community in “the coming weeks.”
How to enable and link accounts

Users who receive the update can access Discord Voice by pressing the Xbox button, navigating to “Groups & chats” and selecting “Discord Voice on Xbox.” That flow presents an option to scan a QR code that opens the Discord and Xbox apps to create a bidirectional link between the two accounts.
If a Discord account was previously linked to an Xbox account, users must re-establish the connection through this new process. The minimum age to link accounts is 13, and parental controls can apply. Once linked, players can join a Discord voice channel and use voice chat from the console.
Using the mobile apps to transfer chat
On the Discord mobile app, a new option labeled “Join on Xbox” will appear for linked accounts. Transferring voice chat from Discord to Xbox requires the Xbox app to be installed; if it is present, the Xbox app opens and completes the connection so the Discord Voice session runs on the console, whether Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One.
Insider testing and next steps
The July 20 release is part of Xbox Insider testing, which provides early access to features and games for testers. Microsoft indicated the update will be made available to the wider Xbox user base in the weeks following the Insider rollout.
