Microsoft is testing a dedicated task manager for gamers on Windows 10 that runs inside the Xbox Game Bar, allowing players to monitor and tweak system and game performance without leaving their session.
What the new “Resources” tab does
The feature, labeled “Resources,” shows which applications are consuming the most hardware resources and provides performance metrics for games currently running. Players can use the tab to adjust performance in real time, avoiding the need to switch out of a game to run the traditional Task Manager.

The goal is to eliminate workarounds such as using “Alt+Tab” or “Ctrl+Alt+Del” during play, so adjustments and troubleshooting can be performed from within the game overlay.
Availability and stability
The Resources tab is not yet available to general Windows 10 users. It can be tested by those enrolled in the Game Bar developer app (“Game Bar – SDK Development App”). Microsoft presents this release as an early, unstable build, so testers should expect bugs and other issues.
How to access the feature
Users who have the developer app can open the Game Bar by pressing the Windows key + G. From the overlay, click the “sandwich” menu (three horizontal lines in the corner) to view available widgets; the new Resources option appears in that menu.
Relation to the standard Task Manager
Microsoft notes the Resources tab will not replace the traditional Task Manager, although it offers similar functionality focused on gaming scenarios.
