Insomniac Games released a surprise update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Patch v1.005.000 is available now and brings two free Peter Parker suits, enhanced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) support on the PlayStation 5 Pro, and a new energy-saving mode for all PS5 models.
Two new, free suits inspired by film and a new Marvel fighter
The headline additions in this update are two costumes players can unlock at no extra cost. The first is the Fresh Start Suit, inspired by the look Tom Holland wears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the upcoming film featuring the hero.
The second outfit is based on the suit that will appear in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the new Marvel fighting game. Both items are already available to add to players’ collections.
PS5 Pro gets native PSSR upscaling
The patch improves support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) on the PlayStation 5 Pro. According to Insomniac Games, the native implementation of the upscaling system enhances image quality during gameplay on Sony’s more powerful console.
Energy-saving mode introduced for all PS5 consoles
Alongside features targeted at the PS5 Pro, v1.005.000 adds a new Energy Saving mode for every PlayStation 5 model. The option reduces the console’s power consumption during play by making adjustments to performance, giving players an alternative when they want to lower energy use while gaming.
