During PlayStation’s 30th-anniversary posts, Sony shared an image that may have unintentionally shown the design of the rumored PS5 Pro, highlighting a variant with three black stripes down the middle that aligns with a recent leak.
Observers comparing the anniversary artwork to a leak published the week before by Dealabs noticed the same distinctive triple-stripe pattern. Dealabs had reported seeing PS5 Pro packaging and produced a sketch that included three central black stripes on the console’s face—contrasting with the current PS5 model, which features a single central band.

How the anniversary art highlights two PS5 versions
The commemorative image also includes the standard PS5, depicted with the single central stripe, which emphasizes the visual difference between the two versions shown in the same artwork.
The presence of both designs in the celebratory piece drew attention because it mirrors the Dealabs sketch: the suspected Pro design with three stripes sits alongside the familiar single-stripe standard model, suggesting the image intentionally (or inadvertently) contrasts the two variants.

Official presentation scheduled for September 10
Sony has scheduled a “PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation” for September 10, a nine-minute event led by Mark Cerny, the PS5 Lead System Architect, described as focusing on “the console’s technological innovations.” The presentation is widely expected to formally reveal the PS5 Pro.
While Sony has not confirmed an exact retail launch date for the PS5 Pro, the technical presentation is expected to provide key details about the console’s features and the release timeline.
Projected price and market expectations
Industry speculation suggests the PS5 Pro will be priced notably higher than the current model. Insider Jeff Grubb has estimated a retail price around US$600, roughly US$100 more than the PS5 Slim, citing the jump in specifications.
In the UK, similar projections place the PS5 Pro near £579. Analysts point to the Pro’s expected performance improvements as the rationale for a higher price, contrasting with the PS4 era when the PS4 Pro launched at the same price as the standard PS4.
Developer preparation and game support
Rumors indicate developers have been preparing titles with the PS5 Pro in mind. According to The Verge, a source familiar with Sony’s plans said that games released from September 16 onward will be required to support the PS5 Pro, a detail that reinforces expectations of an imminent official announcement and rollout timeline.
