PlayStation has released the PlayStation Family App, a new parental-control mobile app for PS4 and PS5 available on iOS and Android that lets parents manage children’s gaming directly from their phones.
What the app does
The PlayStation Family App provides a guided setup for child accounts and centralizes parental controls on a smartphone. It offers tools to set daily playtime limits, approve extra playtime requests, receive real‑time notifications about what the child is playing and manage social interactions.

Time management and activity reports
Parents can define daily time limits and approve or deny requests for additional playtime either from the console or the mobile device. The app also delivers daily and weekly activity reports so guardians can see how much time the child spends playing and which activities they undertake.
Content and social controls
The app includes content filters that enable parents to select age-appropriate games and applications using automatic presets or custom settings. Social features can be restricted or tailored, controlling how the child connects and plays with other users.

Purchase controls and wallet management
PlayStation Family App allows guardians to manage spending by adding funds, checking wallet balances and setting monthly purchase limits for the PlayStation Store. These controls aim to prevent unexpected charges from child accounts.

Availability
The PlayStation Family App is now available for download from the App Store and Google Play. PlayStation positions the release as a way to offer a safer, more monitored gaming environment for children using PS4 and PS5 consoles.
