Nvidia launches DLSS 4.5 beta with bigger frame boosts

Nvidia has begun distributing a beta of DLSS 4.5, an artificial intelligence update aimed at improving gaming performance and image quality, and says it will deliver its “smoothest gaming experience yet.” The release targets primarily GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs and focuses on raising frame rates while preserving visual fidelity and input responsiveness.

The headline addition is Multi Frame Generation 6X, which uses a second-generation transformer model to increase the number of AI-generated frames. According to Nvidia, the system can produce up to five additional frames for every native frame rendered, and can yield performance gains of up to 35% at resolutions such as 4K while keeping latency impact low.

Multi Frame Generation 6X remains based on frame interpolation: the extra frames are created by AI from estimations rather than being rendered natively. Nvidia says the approach balances higher frame rates with limited added latency.

Dynamic Multi Frame Generation adapts frame output

The DLSS 4.5 beta also introduces Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, which automatically adjusts how many frames the AI generates depending on the scene. The feature functions similarly to an automatic control system, seeking a target balance among frame rate, image quality and responsiveness for a given scenario.

Part of that balancing includes preventing the GPU from producing more frames than the display’s refresh rate, helping to optimize video card utilization rather than simply maximizing raw frame output.

Improved handling of HUDs and minimaps

Beyond frame-generation modes, the update brings a new AI model aimed at reducing distortion in interface elements such as minimaps and HUDs. Nvidia says this enhancement will also be made available to RTX 40-series card users.

Beta access and supported games

To use the new features testers must install the beta version of the NVIDIA App and compatible drivers. Nvidia expects that more than 20 games will add native support for the DLSS 4.5 technologies in the coming months, naming titles such as 007 First Light, Control Resonant and Marvel Rivals among those slated to adopt the new modes.
