The Day Before, an open-world survival MMO developed by Fntastic, is scheduled to release for PC on June 21, 2022. Set in a post-pandemic United States, the game places players in a devastated world where infected, famished for flesh, and hostile survivors fight over food, vehicles and territory.
Premise and gameplay
Players begin the game waking up into a shattered landscape and must scavenge, craft and fight to stay alive while searching for answers. The Day Before emphasizes exploration across both rural and urban environments, realistic weapons, item collection, crafting systems and the option to form colonies with other survivors to try to restore aspects of society.
Multiplayer modes and trading
The title will offer both PvP (player versus player) and PvE (player versus environment) modes. In addition to combat and survival mechanics, the game includes systems for trading between players within colonies.
Platforms
Initially announced for PC, the developer later confirmed versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While the PC release date is set for June 21, 2022, no launch date for the console editions has been announced.
