Microsoft said it will address circulating rumors that several Xbox-exclusive games could be released for PlayStation 5 in a public discussion scheduled for February 15 at 17:00 Brasília time.
The company announced that Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, will join Sarah Bond, president of Xbox, and Matt Booty, president of Activision Blizzard, for an episode of the brand’s official podcast. The episode will be published that day on the Xbox YouTube channel and on podcast platforms including Spotify, according to The Verge.
What executives are expected to address
Industry chatter has suggested that multiple titles—among them Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Hi-Fi Rush and entries in the Gears of War franchise—may be losing their Xbox exclusivity and could be released on PlayStation consoles.
The February 15 conversation is being presented as the moment Microsoft will lay out its plans and provide official clarity on those reports.
Reasons behind the announcement
Speculation intensified recently after data mined from game assets pointed to a potential Hi-Fi Rush release for PS5 and Nintendo Switch earlier this month. Other leaks and insider reports had already indicated that Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves might appear on non-Xbox platforms.
Rumors also suggested Starfield and the next Indiana Jones title could arrive on PlayStation. Microsoft has not confirmed any of those moves to date.
Signals from Microsoft leadership
While the company has remained officially silent on cross-platform releases, Spencer posted on social media that “We are listening and we heard you,” a message interpreted as an indication that Microsoft recognizes the need to explain its strategy to players and the wider market.
Purpose of the podcast
Microsoft appears to be using the podcast episode to calm uncertainty, provide more detail about any changes in exclusivity strategy, and explain how any transitions would work in practice.
