Microsoft will release two new Xbox consoles in the United States on November 10, priced at $299 for the Xbox Series S and $499 for the Xbox Series X, the company announced.
Prices and financing options
The lower-cost Xbox Series S will retail for $299, while the more powerful Series X will be offered at $499. In local currency conversions cited alongside the U.S. prices, $299 was noted as approximately 1,584.70 reais and $499 as about 2,644.70 reais.
Both models are already listed in Xbox All Access, Microsoft’s financing plan. According to Windows Central, the basic Series S will be available through the program for $25 per month, and the Series X for roughly $35 per month.
Design and hardware details
An image of the Series S circulated on Twitter early today showing a white console with a ventilation outlet on top. The Series S appears compact enough that it could fit inside the Series X chassis.
Sources indicate the Series S will offer streaming and 4K upscaling for games. The unit is expected to rely on a customized NVMe SSD to speed up game loading; the internal storage is reported as 512 GB with no optical disc drive. Users should be able to expand storage using proprietary expansion cards.
Backward compatibility and library
Microsoft has committed to bringing the complete Xbox One game library to the new consoles, ensuring backward compatibility for existing titles.
