Gucci and Microsoft Release Limited-Edition Xbox Series X

Gucci and Microsoft are launching a limited-edition Xbox Series X decorated with Gucci’s signature double-G pattern. The fashion house says the emblem references founder Guccio Gucci and also plays on the gaming phrase “Good Game.”

The special release is offered as a kit that includes a Gucci-branded Xbox Series X console, two customized wireless controllers, an exclusive carrying case, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription; the company has not disclosed the subscription duration.

Availability and price

Only 100 units will be produced. Sales begin on November 17 through the Gucci website and “selected stores.” The kit is priced at US$10,000.

How the price compares

At US$10,000, the Gucci Xbox Series X costs roughly the equivalent of ten standard Xbox Series X consoles plus additional controllers, as noted in comparisons to typical retail bundles. The article highlights that those standard purchases would not include Gucci branding or the exclusive carrying case that comes with this limited edition.

Context: fashion meets gaming

This collaboration continues a trend of high-fashion brands engaging with gaming platforms. In September, the Spanish fashion house Balenciaga made clothing and accessories available inside the game Fortnite, offering outfits and in-game items such as backpacks, shoes and a glider for certain characters.

Gucci’s release follows these moves by couture brands into gaming-related products and virtual collaborations, illustrating increasing overlap between luxury fashion and video-game culture.
