GTA V launches on PS5 and Xbox Series on Nov. 11

Rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto V will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 11, 2021.

The company also confirmed that GTA Online will become a standalone title and will launch on the same date. PlayStation 5 users will be able to download the game for free during the first three months after release.

Rockstar says the next-gen edition of GTA V will include new features and additional content. Players can expect native 4K resolutions, updated graphics, selectable performance modes with higher frame rates, ultra-fast loading, and other enhancements.

Standalone GTA Online and free PS5 access

GTA Online will be offered separately from the base GTA V package and will be available on November 11, 2021, alongside the full game. In a promotional move, PlayStation 5 owners can claim the title at no cost within the initial three-month window following launch.

Technical improvements for next-gen consoles

According to Rockstar, the version developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S brings upgraded visuals and technical options designed to leverage the new consoles’ hardware. The company highlighted support for 4K output and modes focused on higher frame rates, alongside faster loading times.

Availability and what to expect

The release date applies to both PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series family (Series X and Series S). Beyond the graphical and performance upgrades, Rockstar indicated the game will include additional content, without specifying further details in the announcement.
