Developer says Xbox and Switch releases are close

In a message included with Season 6 updates, Mediatonic acknowledged that players have been eagerly awaiting news about Fall Guys on Nintendo Switch and Xbox. The studio wrote that those versions are being finalized and, while they are not part of the current update, they will be released soon.

Cross-play and account integration added

The Season 6 update also introduced complete cross-play for PS4 and PC across all game modes. Alongside bug fixes, the update allows players to use their Epic account to create rooms and play with friends on both platforms.

Community reaction and timeline

Mediatonic’s statement came after a period of limited communication about the console ports, which prompted speculation on social networks, including theories that the studio had dropped the Xbox and Switch versions. The first public mention of those ports was in February 2021, when Mediatonic said the games were expected by August 2021 — a date that was not met.

Ownership change and possible impact

In 2021, one month after Fall Guys was announced for additional platforms, Epic Games — owner of Fortnite — acquired Tonic Games Group, Mediatonic’s parent company. That acquisition has been noted as a potential factor in timing for platform releases.

What is Fall Guys?

Fall Guys is a multiplayer battle royale developed by Mediatonic. The game is heavily inspired by obstacle-course competition shows and features small, colorful bean-like characters competing in chaotic races and mini-games until a single player reaches the top of the podium.
