Blizzard announced Diablo II: Resurrected, a full remake of the studio’s classic action-RPG, and confirmed it will launch in 2021 for Windows, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
What the remake includes
Diablo II: Resurrected bundles the original Diablo II and its expansion, Lords of Destruction. The package preserves the game’s core gameplay while updating visuals, audio and cinematics.

Visual and audio upgrades
All in-game graphics have been rebuilt in 3D with dynamic lighting and new enchantment animations, and the game will support resolutions up to 4K. The audio has been remastered into Dolby 7.1 surround sound.
Additionally, the nearly 30 minutes of story cinematics were fully remade “shot for shot.”
Gameplay fidelity and options
Despite the visual and audio overhaul, the remake keeps the original gameplay intact with only minor convenience adjustments. Players can switch between the updated and the original graphics at the click of a button without altering gameplay.
Cross-progression and testing
Diablo II: Resurrected will support cross-progression, allowing players to start on one platform and continue on another while keeping characters and items.
Blizzard is already testing an alpha version of the game. Interested players can sign up to try it at www.diablo.com.
Company statement
J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment, said Diablo II was a foundational title for the studio and millions of players worldwide. He added the company is pleased to bring the classic back for PC and consoles so players can either relive memories or experience Diablo II’s gameplay for the first time on their preferred platform.
