CD Projekt RED will release a free update for Cyberpunk 2077—Update 2.5—on October 22, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, adding dual-wield combat, expanded cyberware customization and items tied to the recently released Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
Dual-wield combat joins the game’s mechanics
The headline feature of Update 2.5 is a new combat style that enables players to use two weapons simultaneously. The developer has confirmed the mechanic but has not yet specified which weapon categories will support dual-wielding or how the system will behave in gameplay.
Alongside the dual-weapons system, CD Projekt RED said the update will introduce more options to personalize the protagonist’s cybernetic implants. Details about which components can be adjusted or whether the changes will affect character attributes were not provided.
Update 2.5 will also add items inspired by the second season of the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, further linking the game’s content to the series.
Developer to outline features in REDstreams broadcast
CD Projekt RED will present Update 2.5 in a REDstreams broadcast on Wednesday, October 21 at 12:00 Brasília time. During the stream the studio plans to showcase the main changes and publish the full list of additions.
The company is expected to clarify how dual-wield combat functions, what customization options for cyberware will be available and which Edgerunners 2–inspired items are coming to the game.
Edgerunners season 2 arrives on Netflix
Update 2.5 coincides with the debut of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the anime’s second season produced in collaboration with studio Trigger. The ten-episode season premiered on Netflix on October 20, 2026.
Unlike the first season, this new installment tells an independent story with new characters embroiled in a plot of vengeance and redemption set in Night City. The season is directed by Kai Ikarashi and follows characters trying to survive the city’s conflicts.
CD Projekt RED has not disclosed which specific elements from the new season will appear in Cyberpunk 2077. The Update 2.5 rollout for Nintendo Switch 2 was confirmed but will occur at a later, unspecified date.
