CD Projekt Red announced a new expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 titled “Phantom Liberty” and confirmed this week that the update will be available only on current-generation platforms, excluding PS4 and Xbox One.
Limited-edition Xbox One X owners eligible for compensation
As a result of the studio’s decision to stop releasing updates for last-generation consoles, owners of the special Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 edition will be refunded. The limited-edition console had been sold in stores ahead of the game’s launch at the end of 2020.

Why the refund is happening
When Microsoft sold the Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 edition, it stated buyers would receive free access to expansions released by CD Projekt Red. With the developer no longer planning updates for the previous console generation, that bonus entitlement is effectively void.
Form of compensation and next steps
CD Projekt Red said owners of the limited-edition Xbox One X will receive credits in the Microsoft Store as compensation. The studio shared the information on its official site and advised fans to “stay tuned” for further details about the upcoming refunds, with additional information to be communicated later.
Phantom Liberty and related announcements
The studio revealed Phantom Liberty during its Night City Wire livestream on Tuesday, September 6. The expansion will bring back Keanu Reeves as rocker Johnny Silverhand and is described by CD Projekt Red as “a spy-thriller expansion set in a new district of Night City.”
Other media revealed
During the same presentation, CD Projekt Red also discussed the animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 13.
