Xbox introduces Copilot for Gaming on mobile

Microsoft will introduce Copilot for Gaming on mobile, a new AI chatbot designed to help Xbox players find games faster, reduce time spent on installs and updates, and provide in-game guidance. The company has not announced a release date.

What Copilot for Gaming does

Built around the principles of capability, adaptability and personalization, Copilot for Gaming aims to handle routine tasks so players can focus on playing. The assistant can recommend games, speed up research and manage downloads and updates according to the company.

Microsoft emphasizes that players retain control over when and how they interact with Copilot, with the intent that the system should enhance rather than interrupt the gaming experience.

In-game assistance and timing

One core feature is in-game assistance: players will be able to talk to the chatbot using natural language and receive advice tailored to their current situation in a game. That guidance is intended to help users overcome challenges and improve their skills.

“It’s not just about the AI showing up to help you, it’s about the AI showing up at the right time,” said Fatima Kardar, corporate vice president of AI for Xbox. She added that the team must ensure the experience is not intrusive.

Rollout and player feedback

The system will be released initially on mobile devices and then gradually expanded to other platforms. Microsoft said feedback collected through the Xbox Insider Program will play a key role in shaping the product’s direction.
