Xbox Series S 512GB drops to $249.99 in limited US sale

Woot is selling the Xbox Series S 512GB for $249.99 this Monday, marking the lowest price yet for Microsoft’s entry-level current-generation console. The offer includes a one-month trial of Xbox Game Pass and is available only in the United States while supplies last.

Price cuts and availability

The Series S price has been reduced gradually in recent weeks: initial discounts of $10 and then $30 preceded the current drop from the regular $299.99 to $249.99, which is roughly equivalent to just over R$1,540. According to Woot, the promotion runs only today or until inventory is depleted.

Unlike some prior Woot deals, this sale is not limited to Amazon Prime members; however, it is restricted to customers in the U.S.

What the Xbox Series S offers

The Xbox Series S is a disc-free console that runs the same game library as the Xbox Series X but targets a lower display resolution and performance envelope. It outputs at a more modest QHD (2560 x 1440) and supports up to 120 fps in titles that allow it.

Storage is one of the platform’s trade-offs: the 512GB SSD provides about 364GB of usable space. Despite this limitation, the console’s small physical footprint makes it easy to place in tight entertainment setups.

Services, backward compatibility and media

Users can access games, saves and other features via cloud services, and can pre-install supported titles ahead of their release. The Series S supports four generations of Xbox backward compatibility, including Xbox One, Xbox 360 and original Xbox games.

Although it lacks a disc drive, the console can stream 4K video from apps such as Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and Microsoft Movies & TV, and it supports Xbox Live for online multiplayer worldwide.
