Microsoft’s Xbox announced on Thursday, April 24, that it has become an official partner of the French Football Federation (FFF). The announcement on the federation’s Twitter account was accompanied by a video clip showing the France national team stadium bathed in Xbox green and revealing a special controller design created to celebrate the collaboration.
Partnership goals and statements from both sides
François Vasseur, director of marketing and economic development at the FFF, said the federation is “very pleased” to partner with Xbox. He described Xbox as a globally renowned and innovative brand that shares the FFF’s core values of diversity and inclusion, and highlighted the brand’s commitment to amateur football and to France’s national teams as a basis for “great stories together.”
Marcos Waltenberg, Xbox’s director of partnerships, called the agreement “an incredibly proud moment for everyone at Xbox,” noting the timing alongside major global tournaments this year and saying the company is ready to bring “our collective creativity” to the collaboration.
Xbox FC to support amateur football
As part of the deal, the two organizations announced Xbox FC, an initiative designed to bolster the FFF’s support for amateur football. According to the announcement, the program aims to help realize the dreams of young amateur players by providing new facilities and training equipment.
Xbox Day: inclusion and diversity event on May 21
The partnership will also include an event called Xbox Day, dedicated to inclusion and diversity, scheduled for May 21. The event will feature Kadidiatou Diani, forward for the French Women’s National Team, and Pierre-Alexis Bizot, known as Domingo, a prominent French video game streamer.
