Xbox CEO Phil Spencer commented on this week’s leak of images and internal documents that revealed unannounced plans, including a possible redesign of the Xbox Series X and a failed effort to acquire Activision Blizzard.
Spencer says the company will share plans when ready
Leaked files from court-related documents and other internal materials appeared online earlier this week. Spencer responded on his X account, writing that Microsoft “will share its plans when it is ready.”

He also sent a full letter to The Verge addressing employees about the disclosures.
Full employee message summarized
In his letter, Spencer acknowledged that multiple documents submitted during legal proceedings tied to the company’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard were inadvertently released. He noted many of the documents are over a year old and that the company’s plans have since evolved.
Spencer wrote that the leaks were disappointing and that Xbox takes the confidentiality of its plans and partner information seriously. He said the incident showed the company did not meet those expectations and that it will learn from the event to improve going forward.
He also expressed appreciation for the team’s passion and hard work, saying that this is not how they want that work to be revealed to the community. Spencer added that there is still much to be excited about and that Microsoft will share actual plans with players when ready.
Finally, he urged employees to focus on controllable priorities in the coming days and weeks: sustaining the success of Starfield, preparing the upcoming release of Forza Motorsport, and continuing to build games, services and devices for millions of players.
