Koei Tecmo announced on Wednesday, September 16, that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch on March 4, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. The developer also released a free Alpha demo for a limited period so players can test the updated combat system ahead of release.
The Alpha demo is available now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and will remain accessible only until September 30, 2026. Nintendo Switch 2 will receive the full game at launch but is not part of this early test.
Game Pass availability and series setting
Microsoft subscribers will be able to play the full Wo Long 2 on Xbox Game Pass from day one, on March 4, 2027. The original title, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, is already included in the Game Pass catalog.
Wo Long 2 continues the franchise’s story after the events of the first game. The sequel returns to a fantastical interpretation of the late Eastern Han dynasty in China, where human fighters and demonic creatures battle across the battlefield. Players control an unnamed champion who confronts both human and demon enemies throughout the campaign.
Expanded martial-arts combat
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was noted for blending soulslike mechanics with a combat system inspired by Chinese martial arts, an approach Team Ninja has used before in Nioh. For the sequel, the studio says that martial-arts elements will be enhanced.
According to Xbox’s description, Wo Long 2 integrates refined Chinese martial-arts styles that combine offensive and defensive maneuvers within encounters. The Alpha demo released on September 16 provides the first opportunity for players to experience those combat changes firsthand.
Alpha demo window and testing details
The Alpha demo for Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember runs from September 16 through September 30, 2026, giving interested players roughly two weeks to try the new systems. Koei Tecmo has not announced whether additional demos or tests will take place prior to the March 2027 launch.
Deluxe Edition and pre-order bonuses
Koei Tecmo also detailed a Digital Deluxe Edition. That edition bundles the base game with a season pass, Creator God armor set, a digital artbook, a mini digital soundtrack and the Shitieshou Hat item.
Customers who purchase any physical or digital edition by March 18, 2027 will receive the Harvest God Armor as an early-purchase bonus. Digital pre-orders placed before release additionally grant the Creator Goddess Garb set.
