Riot Games officially unveiled Summit, the 13th map for VALORANT, during the Masters London final on Sunday, June 21. Summit will enter Competitive play with the 2026 // Act 4 season on Wednesday, June 24.
Map premise and setting
Summit centers its narrative on the Sentinel Sage and explores the origins of her powers, including a crystalization phenomenon tied to frequent use of her abilities. The map is set inside an old mountain monastery in China that historically functioned as a training center for Radiants.
The complex mixes advanced technology, meditation spaces and combat areas where Sage honed her skills prior to joining the VALORANT Protocol. Its design draws direct inspiration from the Zhangjiajie peaks in Hunan, noted for towering stone formations and the iconic “Heaven’s Gate,” a location used by Riot Games for a large-scale projection reveal.

Gameplay mechanics and layout
Summit adopts a three-lane layout with two Spike sites (A and B), consistent with VALORANT’s tactical FPS structure. A major addition is collapsible walls — a new, round-based mechanic that can be triggered by shooting buttons or using offensive abilities to change lines of sight and redirect rotations in real time.
Three destructible doors placed in Mid and on the sites are permanently breakable each round. These structures deal lethal damage to players and destroy Sentinel utilities; when closed they include upper slits that allow strategic use of projectiles and ricocheted abilities. Mid on Summit is highly connected, offering four equally distributed access points for Attackers and Defenders, which is expected to create intense fights over central control.
The map emphasizes verticality: ziplines and elevated positions favor high-mobility agents, while the labyrinthine layout with Chinese-inspired architecture supports Sentinel and Controller metas, demanding careful pixel clearing and strict area control.

How Summit was revealed
Riot revealed Summit during a celebratory showmatch at VALORANT Masters London on June 21. The exhibition match featured Team Calm, led by FNATIC streamer Megan Garner (@megsoundslikegg), against Team Chaos, captained by HEROIC content creator Arjeta Hoxha (@Ailincia), and served as a lead-in to the Masters final between Leviatán and Paper Rex at Copper Box Arena.
Competitive rollout and rank protections
Summit arrives in Competitive with Act 4 on June 24. To smooth the transition, Riot will apply a temporary rank protection system for two weeks: losses will incur only 50% of the normal rank penalty while wins grant full point gains. Additionally, a limited seven-day Frenzy queue will be made available.
New 3×3 mode: Retomada
Act 4 introduces Retomada, a faster-paced 3×3 mode focused on the tense segment of rounds where Defenders attempt to retake a site after the Attackers have planted the Spike. One team defends the planted Spike while the other must retake and defuse under time pressure. Equipment is randomized and upgrades between rounds, keeping each match dynamic.

Act 4 battle pass and Blackspyre Collection
The Act 4 Battle Pass debuts the Blackspyre Collection, which blends sci-fi influences with mysterious motifs across several weapon skins, including Phantom, Sheriff, Spectre, Ares and a new Confronto model, Duality. The free track offers items such as the Ghost Celestial Reaper, Union Cord keychain, Levanta spray and the “Look at the Heal!” card.
The paid track (priced at 1,000 VALORANT Points) includes items like the Celestial Reaper Sword (Confronto), Phantom Tactical Guild, Guardian Entrelace, the Bum-Ball emote, the Implacable // Iso card, Macio e Mortal card, Blé and Indifferent sprays, and the Espreeeeeitador keychain.
Availability and monetization
VALORANT launched on PC in 2020 and became available for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in 2024. The game remains free-to-play; microtransactions are limited to cosmetic items such as weapon skins and keychains, with no competitive advantage tied to purchases. Summit will be playable in-game starting June 24 as part of Act 4.
