Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg that the multiplayer component of GTA 6 is expected to launch in 2027, roughly a year after the game’s release, and that Twitch is already in discussions with Rockstar Games about the title.
Twitch in talks with Rockstar about creator involvement
Clancy discussed the platform-level impact he expects from GTA 6 and said Twitch has been speaking directly with Rockstar about the game’s plans and ways to engage creators on the streaming service.
According to Clancy, GTA 6 should drive a large initial audience to Twitch at launch, with an even larger effect anticipated the following year when multiplayer becomes available.
Possible staggered launch for single-player and online
The CEO’s comments imply Rockstar might separate the release of GTA 6’s single-player campaign and its online multiplayer, a strategy the company has used before. However, Clancy did not specify which aspects of Rockstar’s plans are finalized.
Rockstar has not confirmed GTA 6 Online or 2027 date

Rockstar Games has not officially announced a GTA 6 Online component, nor has it confirmed a 2027 release for multiplayer.
Questions remain about the future of the current GTA Online and how Rockstar plans to transition the franchise’s multiplayer experience to the next generation.
Although the information came from the CEO of a major streaming platform that is in discussions with Rockstar, the 2027 timing should not be treated as official until Rockstar itself confirms the multiplayer schedule.
