Several PlayStation Network users reported in recent days that games purchased on physical discs have disappeared from the public history of their PSN profiles, while still running normally when the disc is inserted. Sony has not issued an official explanation for the reports.
What users are seeing
According to community reports gathered on forums and Reddit, the issue appears to affect only titles played exclusively from physical media that have no downloadable content, expansions, or any purchases tied to the PlayStation Store.
Those games reportedly stop appearing in the visible account history as if they were never played, even though they launch and function correctly when the disc is used in the console.
By contrast, games that are linked to an account through additional purchases or downloaded content remain visible in users’ profiles.
Community suggests a technical glitch
One leading hypothesis among players is that Sony temporarily disabled or altered the part of the system that displays games on profiles. Community members point to a previous bug that caused games never played or nonexistent titles to appear on some PS5 accounts as a possible trigger for corrective changes.
Under this scenario, physical-disc titles could have been hidden while the company adjusts the system, but Sony has not confirmed this explanation.
Timing fuels speculation

The reports attracted wider attention because they surfaced days after Sony announced it will stop producing physical versions for new games starting in 2028, a move the company presented as part of a shift toward digital distribution.
The proximity of the two developments led some in the community to speculate whether the absence of disc-based entries from profiles is part of a broader change in how the company treats content purchased on physical media.
There is no evidence that Sony is removing physical-disc games from users’ libraries; the reports concern only the display of play history on PSN profiles.
Sony has not responded
At the time of publication, Sony had not released a statement clarifying whether the behavior is the result of a planned update or a technical error. Players continue to post new cases on social media while awaiting an official response.
