CD Projekt Red released a new gameplay trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 that highlights the game’s narrative focus, open-world exploration and player-driven systems. The studio expects to release the title on December 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
Gameplay blends open-world exploration with story-driven progression
The gameplay trailer, published on the developer’s YouTube channel, emphasizes how exploration in the game’s open world is integrated with a structured narrative. Players follow the protagonist, a mercenary known as “V,” as they navigate Night City and its criminal underworld while developing the character’s abilities and equipment.
According to the trailer, player choices during the journey affect the game’s outcomes, creating varied endings and making each playthrough distinct. Customization options cover physical appearance, special abilities and a range of weapons, giving players many ways to shape their experience.
Night City: a dystopian metropolis shaped by catastrophe and technology
Cyberpunk 2077 is set in the year indicated by its title and unfolds in a dystopian world scarred by major atomic catastrophes caused by wars between international powers. Much of North America was devastated, leaving only a few large metropolises. Night City survived as a powerful economic center amid global chaos.
The city’s social order is marked by heavy policing and a prevailing faith in technological progress as a remedy for social problems. This environment, inspired by dystopian films such as Robocop and Blade Runner, has fostered high levels of violence and a strong presence of organized crime.

Platforms and next-gen consoles
Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on December 10 for computer, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia. CD Projekt Red has not announced release dates for the next-generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
