Insomniac Games confirmed that the physical PS5 edition of Marvel’s Wolverine will include a disc inside the box, addressing concerns raised after another major release announced a download-only physical version.
Studio answers fans directly on social media
The announcement followed questions from players about whether other high-profile releases would follow Grand Theft Auto VI’s decision to ship physical copies containing only a download code.
When asked on X whether Marvel’s Wolverine would come with just a code in the retail box, Insomniac replied plainly: “The physical version will include a disc inside the box.”

Contrast with GTA 6’s distribution choice
Rockstar recently revealed that Grand Theft Auto VI’s physical edition will contain only a code to redeem the digital game, a move that drew criticism from collectors and players who prefer tangible media.
By confirming a disc for Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac signals that physical media remains part of its release strategy for major PlayStation exclusives.
What to expect from the game
Marvel’s Wolverine places players in the role of Logan in an original story developed by Insomniac Games. The gameplay emphasizes brutal, visceral combat using Wolverine’s adamantium claws, alongside exploration and a more mature narrative tone.
The game is scheduled to release exclusively for PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026.
Accessibility features detailed
Insomniac also outlined a comprehensive suite of accessibility options for the title. These include full difficulty adjustments, combat and exploration assists, customizable gameplay systems, a puzzle-skip option, and settings to adapt the level of violence and other experience elements.
These features follow the studio’s previous accessibility efforts, such as those implemented in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
