The upcoming game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is slated to launch first as a Microsoft exclusive on Xbox and PC, but sources say Bethesda and Microsoft are considering a delayed release for PlayStation 5 months after the initial window.
Exclusive at launch, possible cross-platform follow-up
Microsoft announced the game’s exclusivity for its platforms during the Xbox Developer Direct event last month. According to people familiar with the matter who spoke to The Verge, Microsoft is exploring a new approach that would keep certain titles exclusive at launch but allow them to appear on rival consoles after a limited period.
Indiana Jones is expected to release on Xbox and PC later this year. The sources indicate that a PlayStation 5 version could arrive several months after that initial launch, although no official confirmation has been made.
Other Xbox titles reportedly considered for delayed multiplatform release
Insiders say other games may follow a similar path. Reportedly, Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush are among the titles under consideration to become multiplatform some months after debuting as exclusives.
Separately, the site XboxEra reports Microsoft is planning to bring Starfield to PS5 after releasing the game’s “Shattered Space” expansion on Xbox and PC. However, those plans remain subject to internal debate.
Internal discussions continue at Microsoft
Before any public announcement about a PlayStation 5 version of Indiana Jones, sources emphasize that Microsoft is still engaged in intense internal discussions about which Xbox games should be offered to rival consoles following exclusive launch windows.
