Rockstar Games says Grand Theft Auto VI will include hundreds of small, enterable interiors and will use a character-driven narrative that leans more toward Red Dead Redemption 2 than GTA V.
Hundreds of explorable interiors
Sources at Rockstar told Bloomberg that the world of GTA 6 will contain hundreds of small interiors that players can enter. The developer’s goal is to increase interaction with the open world by populating these spaces with a high level of detail.
Rockstar’s team focused on the makeup of each room: character placement, the objects present and even marks on tables. Those details are intended to expand the ways players can engage with environments across the map.
An example cited by the report describes entering a gas station and stealing cash without immediately attracting attention from other characters, illustrating how interior design ties into gameplay possibilities.
Although Rockstar confirmed the presence of “hundreds” of interiors, the company has not released an exact count of accessible locations.
Story centered on Jason and Lucia echoes Red Dead Redemption 2

Bloomberg’s coverage also highlights a narrative approach that appears influenced by Red Dead Redemption 2. According to the report, GTA 6 emphasizes the personal relationship between its two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, rather than the trio-driven dynamic of GTA V.
Jason and Lucia are described as characters who genuinely enjoy spending time together, and their bond is a central element of the campaign’s storytelling.
The report notes that player choices may affect the relationship between the characters, though Rockstar has not specified how in-game decisions will alter the narrative.
Alongside the interpersonal focus, the game’s open world is expected to reflect the same attention to small interactions and environmental detail seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Release date and platforms
GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
