Microsoft will remove Forza Motorsport 7 from digital storefronts and from Game Pass on September 15, the company announced. After that date the title will no longer be available for purchase through the Microsoft Store or via Game Pass.
Players who already own Forza Motorsport 7 will retain access to their copy, including downloadable content (DLC) and multiplayer features. Microsoft said ownership status will not be affected by the removal.
Game Pass subscribers who bought add-ons will get Tokens
Subscribers who purchased additional content for Forza Motorsport 7 but did not own the base game will receive a Token that grants access to the title after it is delisted. Microsoft said these Tokens will be issued by August 2.
Discount offered ahead of delisting
To mark the game’s final period on sale, Microsoft is offering Forza Motorsport 7 at a 75% discount. The listed price during the promotion is R$ 49,75.
Company cites licensing as reason for removal
Microsoft did not provide a specific reason for the delisting. On the game’s official Twitter page, the company outlined factors related to the title entering a “new stage of life.”
Microsoft explained that a Forza game can involve more than 500 licensing partners covering cars, tracks, music and other elements, and those licenses can carry different terms and expiration dates. The company added that servers will remain operational and support staff will continue to work on the game, and that it will still be possible to organize Rivals events with partners. The “End of Life” designation, Microsoft said, simply means the game will no longer be available for purchase.
Franchise updates and timeline
Microsoft has already announced the next Forza Motorsport title, though no release date was specified. Separately, Forza Horizon 5 is scheduled to arrive on November 9 of this year.
Release information
Forza Motorsport 7 originally launched on October 3, 2017 for PC and Xbox.
