Halo Infinite multiplayer confirmed free with 120 fps support

A prematurely published Xbox Series X product page on an Irish retailer revealed that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will be free-to-play and support up to 120 frames per second, according to the cached listing and subsequent confirmations.

Leaked store page details free multiplayer and 120 fps

The Smyths Toys Superstores page, which went online ahead of schedule, described Halo Infinite as returning with “the most comprehensive Master Chief campaign yet and an innovative free-to-play multiplayer experience.” The listing also stated players could enjoy “up to 120 fps and significantly reduced load times” on Xbox Series X.

Insider corroboration: battle pass and customization

Xbox leaker Klobrille confirmed the core details from the leak and added that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will feature a battle pass system and expanded customization options for players.

Official gameplay footage shows campaign mechanics and weapons

The official Halo series YouTube channel published an eight-minute gameplay video last week, running at 60 fps, that highlights campaign environments reminiscent of Halo: Combat Evolved. The footage includes appearances by the Banished faction and the Warthog vehicle.

The clip also showcases new gameplay mechanics: “Drop Wall,” a quick-deployable shield for blocking enemy fire, and the “Grappleshot,” a tool for grabbing ledges that also influences combat dynamics. 343 Industries detailed that the game includes several weapon options, such as an assault rifle and a plasma pistol, and said these new tools and weapons would also appear in multiplayer.

Developer comments and release window

343 Industries described the video as showing “only a small section of the open and expansive world” created for an epic experience. The studio noted additional multiplayer details would be revealed “soon.”

Halo Infinite is scheduled for release at the end of the year on Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series X.
