5 remastered Star Wars games to play on modern consoles

Developers have released remastered versions of several Star Wars titles so players can revisit classic adventures on current consoles and PC. Below are five remastered games, the platforms they’re available on, and what changed in each update.

Set 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic puts the player at the center of a fallen Jedi Order facing the Sith. The remaster preserves the original story while delivering enhanced visuals in HD, reduced loading times and improved textures.

The remake also adjusts the Switch user interface for clearer battle displays. The remastered Knights of the Old Republic is playable on the Nintendo Switch and PC. Xbox Series X/S users can access the release via the digital store, but that version is not the same updated build available on Switch. A mobile iOS version is also available.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter — Jango Fett’s story in 4K

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter follows Jango Fett before the events of Episode II: Attack of the Clones, up to his selection as the template for the Clone Army. The original suffered technical issues, while the 2024 remaster modernizes controls, introduces a slowdown feature for Jango’s scanner to inspect areas during combat, and improves camera movement.

The remaster raises resolution and audio quality—supporting up to 4K at 60 fps—and aims to make bounty collection and scanning easier during firefights. The 2024 release is available for purchase on PC via Steam, PS5 and PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch.

Originally released in 1995, Star Wars: Dark Forces was remastered by Nightdive Studio in 2024 to bring the Kyle Katarn–led mercenary campaign to contemporary consoles. The story follows Katarn working with the Rebel Alliance to infiltrate Imperial operations and thwart their plans.

The remaster includes cleaner visuals and a modern control layout for platforms such as the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. It is also available as a paid title on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.

Star Wars: Republic Commando — squad-based combat refreshed

Republic Commando, set during The Clone Wars era and part of the Expanded Universe, centers on Delta Squad, a unit of Clone Commandos executing tactical missions against battle droids, Geonosian forces and other prequel-era threats. The remastered edition upgrades visuals and controls and modernizes gameplay.

The remaster released in 2021 and can be purchased for the Nintendo Switch and PS4. On Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S the 2018 version of the game is available.

Developed by Aspyr Media, Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a remaster combining Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront II. At launch the collection experienced several bugs, but subsequent updates improved stability and performance, making it a comprehensive option for fans of the originals.

The package consolidates enhanced visuals and previously platform-exclusive maps into a single release. The Classic Collection, released in 2024, is sold for PC (Steam), PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox X|S.
